CMF Phone 1 x Bambulabs Contest Entry: Dessert Selection
The MakerWorld "CMF by Nothing Phone 1" design contest invited designers to create designs to make use of their smartphones modularity using provided assets they shared. For my submission, I set out to create something a bit playful, taking notes from my childhood (and admittedly, modern day) in creating sweet treat backplates that would resonate with others through nostalgia and a sweet tooth.
Doing research for the brand Nothing, I noticed a design language speaking to minimalism, modularity, and of no fluff functionality. For my designs I approached this with two themes in mind, starting with the unexpected and cute.
The desert theming came from a mindmap leading me to thinking about Android version names for their sweets based codenames. This connection led me to try out different designs based on some of my favorite snacks, starting with CAD modeling to get the basic shape down, followed by some sculpting in Zbrush to give final touches.
